Mobile Devices Make Their Appearance @ Teresa Burke

Students at Teresa Burke are now using iPod and iPad learning devices to enhance their learning.  Students are benefiting from 3 full time classroom carts and 2 mobile carts.  The mobile carts can be moved from room to room for school wide use.

These mobile devices increase student engagement, increase student conceptual understanding of learning objectives, and applications of technology in general.

Great Happenings at Teresa Burke

In the last two weeks Teresa Burke has hosted two wonderful events.  On the evening of September 28th the 2011 Honor's Banquet was hosted at the Thomas Jefferson Rec Center.  This year nearly 160 students earned honors status by achieving proficient or advanced status in both Math and English on the 2011 CST Test.  Students enjoyed dinner, which was served by the teacher's and administration, and a hilarious magic show.  Burke's honor students also received a gold certificate of achievement signed by President Obama and a scholar's medal.

The second event took place on October 6th at the Fresh and Easy store on Hwy 46 here in Wasco.  This was our second year hosting Teresa Burke Elementary Night at Fresh and Easy.  Staff and teachers volunteered their time bagging groceries, handing out free samples, face painting, and collecting donation receipts.  Fresh and Easy donated a percentage of the receipts collected back to Teresa Burke for teachers to purchase supplies for their classrooms.  We will continue to collect receipts from Fresh and Easy through December 31st.

Official CST Results Released

It's official, Teresa Burke Elementary meets all State and Federal testing targets. On August 31st the 2011 CST growth and Federal annual yearly progress results were released to the public. Teresa Burke made 34 points of growth and met all 17 Federal targets. The school's API is now 745 and finds itself in Federal Safe Harbor. By meeting all Federal targets this testing year, Teresa Burke will exit Program Improvement status.

Burke's testing results were among the top in the Wasco Union Elementary District. The 34 point API gain was second highest in the district and Burke was the only school in Wasco to make all Federal targets.
